In an eye-opening press briefing held in Quetta, the Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) highlighted an escalating education crisis in Balochistan. Over 70% of schools in the region are entirely non-operational, with literacy rates dipping alarmingly below 40%, as per data gathered over four years through the Baloch Literacy Campaign, The Balochistan Post (TBP) reports.

BSAC representatives emphasized the stark contrast between official government narratives of development and the grim realities faced by Balochistan's remote regions. Despite rich natural resources, the region battles numerous socio-economic and political hurdles. The committee's findings reveal that basic amenities are missing in most schools, with 95% lacking necessities such as clean water, electricity, and textbooks.

The committee's campaign assessed hundreds of schools across Baloch-majority areas, uncovering shocking conditions and revealing over 250 non-functional schools. BSAC leaders criticized the government's fiscal priorities, highlighting the continued decline despite claims of significant financial allocations. They underscored the urgency of operational primary to secondary schools for any educational improvement.
