In a significant diplomatic development, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have fortified their alliance by signing a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement. The pact, stipulating that any attack on one will be perceived as an attack on both, was sealed during a state visit by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Riyadh, following an official invitation from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

A joint statement released post-visit emphasized the agreement as an extension of the historic partnership spanning eight decades, underpinned by brotherhood, Islamic solidarity, and shared strategic interests. It marks a concerted effort to enhance security cooperation and establish a robust deterrence against potential aggressions in the region.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed gratitude to the Saudi leadership for their hospitality. Meanwhile, the two countries' top officials, including Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, held comprehensive talks with Saudi counterparts. The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to bolstering regional defence strategies.

However, the agreement has prompted reactions from neighboring countries. India's Ministry of External Affairs acknowledged the development, signaling a review of its potential impacts on national security and regional stability. The Indian government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding national interests while evaluating the implications of this new alliance.
