Upon his arrival in St Petersburg, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi shared insights into his recent diplomatic missions to Pakistan and Oman. As reported by the Iranian state media IRNA, Araghchi described his visit to Islamabad as highly productive, involving effective consultations. These meetings reportedly focused on reviewing past events and exploring conditions under which negotiations between Iran and the US might continue.
Turning to maritime security, Araghchi detailed his subsequent visit to Muscat, where discussions were centered on the significant issue of the Strait of Hormuz. The strategic waterway, shared by Iran and Oman, necessitates mutual consultation, especially as ensuring safe passage has become a global concern. Araghchi emphasized the need for dialogue to safeguard joint interests and maintain coordinated efforts.
Highlighting strong diplomatic alignment, IRNA reported a high degree of consensus between Iran and Oman on maritime issues, with both agreeing to continue expert-level consultations to maintain regional stability. In St Petersburg, Araghchi is set for high-level discussions with Russian leaders including Vladimir Putin, focusing on regional diplomacy that sees Tehran aligning perspectives with key partners amid the escalating West Asian conflict.
