In a significant diplomatic move, a meeting between Chinese and U.S. trade officials is set to occur in Geneva, requested by the U.S. representatives, according to a spokesperson from China's foreign ministry on Wednesday.
The anticipated discussions will see China's Vice Premier He Lifeng visiting Switzerland from May 9 to 12, during which he will meet with a U.S. delegation spearheaded by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
China maintains its firm stance against U.S. tariffs, underscoring that any dialogue must be founded on principles of equality, respect, and mutual benefit, said spokesperson Lin Jian.
