This decision aligns with escalated military operations led by Indian forces early Wednesday, targeting several terror installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, including key locations in Bahawalpur and Muridke.
'Operation Sindoor,' the codename for the military strikes executed two weeks after a devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, resulted in the death of 26 individuals, primarily tourists. As a precautionary measure, the BSF had previously downsized the event amidst rising hostilities.
The daily retreat ceremony attracts throngs of locals and tourists to the Attari-Wagah border, serving as a symbol of India-Pakistan relations. The military's actions and subsequent ceremony cancellation reflect heightened tensions post-Pahalgam assault, affecting usual cross-border activities.
