A revenue official from Maharashtra's Thane district is under scrutiny for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs 25,000, aimed at updating records for several plots, as noted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday.

Dattatreya Bamble, serving as a Naib Tehsildar in the Shahapur area, was approached by a 57-year-old man last November for amendments to the 'vishwasnat' (trustee name) in the 7/12 extract of land affiliated with the Jivdani Mandir Sansthan in Shahpur taluka, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Harshal Chavan.

Subsequently, the man's assistant reported that Bamble demanded Rs 25,000 to expedite the work, leading to an ACB inquiry that verified this through recorded evidence. While a sting operation couldn't be implemented, procedural evidence led to a chargesheet under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Shahapur police station.
