In an unprecedented initiative, the Election Commission has commenced training for field-level poll functionaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, conducting sessions in the Tamil language.
This mixed-batch training includes 293 participants, such as 264 booth-level officer supervisors, 14 electoral registration officers, and other key functionaries.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar emphasized the crucial role of BLOs in maintaining correct electoral rolls during his inaugural address.
The ongoing two-day event is part of an extensive program aimed at preparing over one lakh BLOs across India in the coming years.
The interactive training involves role plays to ensure participants can accurately complete various electoral forms and prepares them to become Assembly Level Master Trainers.
Participants also learned about the appeal processes for electoral roll disputes with higher officials.
The training is timely, as Tamil Nadu and Puducherry legislative assemblies' terms will conclude by May and June of next year.
