In an unprecedented event on Wednesday evening, various regions of the national capital, including the illustrious Lutyens' Delhi, plunged into darkness for a 15-minute power blackout.
This orchestrated exercise darkened New Delhi's key areas, such as Parliament, India Gate, and surrounding embassies. The operation was conducted by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) as part of a nationwide civil defense mock drill.
Labeled 'Operation Abhyaas' by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the initiative responded to increased tensions with Pakistan after the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. Central landmarks usually luminous late into the night, such as Connaught Place and Khan Market, witnessed a sudden halt in activity, capturing the attention of onlookers.
