In a notable case, a senior citizen from Chembur narrowly escaped becoming a victim of cyber fraud when a scammer impersonated a CBI officer in a WhatsApp video call, falsely claiming the senior's involvement in hawala operations through fake financial transactions.
Alerted by his daughter's prompt response to the suspicious call, the helpline confirmed the documents were fake, averting a potential scam. The initiative prevented four similar cases from harming senior citizens.
