France Advocates Lifting Syria Sanctions for Peace and Stability
French President Emmanuel Macron proposes lifting EU sanctions on Syria, urging the U.S. to follow, in a bid to stabilize the nation. This comes amid Syria's ongoing reconstruction efforts, with the EU considering the expiration or renewal of sanctions in June. Macron emphasizes easing Syria's economic challenges.

In a pivotal move, French President Emmanuel Macron has announced plans to urge the European Union to lift sanctions on Syria when they are due for renewal in June, and to encourage the United States to do the same while maintaining its troop presence there.
Macron, speaking alongside Syria's interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, stressed the international community's responsibility to ameliorate Syria's economic distress. This comes as Sharaa seeks to rejuvenate an economy ravaged by 14 years of civil conflict.
Meanwhile, talks between France and the U.S. focus on managing the potential repercussions of the U.S. reducing its military presence in Syria. Macron is engaging with both Western and Syrian leaders to ensure stability during Syria's transitional period.
