In a decisive move to improve Odisha's law enforcement and judicial processes, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed that only officers of Superintendent rank or higher should handle cases of mob lynching, extremist activities, and organized crime.

During a Wednesday night meeting, Majhi reviewed the progress of three pivotal criminal legislations: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of adopting electronic means such as e-FIRs, e-summons, and e-evidence to expedite justice.

To facilitate this, Majhi urged the integration of jails, hospitals, forensic labs, courts, and other institutions via video conferencing. The state's efforts include deploying mobile forensic vans and training law enforcement personnel on new legal frameworks to ensure a swift justice system.
