A youth identified as Zaid has been arrested by Meerut police for allegedly posting pro-Pakistan content on social media, authorities confirmed on Thursday.
According to Civil Lines Circle Officer Abhishek Tiwari, Zaid, who is employed at a salon in the Civil Lines area, is charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The arrest followed a complaint from Vinod Jatav, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's Meerut branch, who flagged Zaid's posts as objectionable.
The incident occurs against a backdrop of increased tension due to the Pahalgam terror attack and subsequent military actions. Police urge the public to act responsibly on social media to avoid spreading misinformation or inciting unrest.
