Tragic Dowry Dispute Ends in Arrest

A 28-year-old man, Dhanesh Gupta, was apprehended on Thursday for allegedly murdering his wife over a dowry dispute, police have reported.

The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday in Hajouli village, where the accused attacked his 25-year-old wife, Pooja Gupta, with a shaving razor at her parental home.

Following the attack, Dhanesh attempted self-harm and later tried to commit suicide by jumping into a well. The police intervened, and an FIR was filed against him for murder and dowry-related offenses.

Pooja had been residing with her parents since the previous four months, with Dhanesh joining her later in April. The marital dispute reportedly escalated into a fatal confrontation.

The Station House Officer confirmed that the accused was taken into custody and is now facing legal actions.
