A Bangladeshi woman, identified as Asmaul Khan, has been taken into custody for illegally residing in India, authorities reported on Thursday. Khan, who initially arrived on a tourist visa, married a local man and stayed beyond her visa expiration date.
Police disclosed that Asmaul's situation unraveled after her Pakistani identity was revealed during the process of obtaining a birth certificate for her daughter. Her stay in India became unauthorized after her visa expired in January 2024, and questions arose following her daughter's birth.
The police investigation, led by Circle Officer Jagatram Kannaujia, has involved both the Intelligence Bureau and various investigative agencies. As the probe continues, the Bangladeshi Embassy has been informed, and diplomatic procedures are anticipated to follow as directed by official orders.
