The Indian government issued an advisory on Thursday instructing OTT platforms to cease streaming content originating from Pakistan. This includes web series, films, and podcasts.
The advisory by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was released following military strikes by Indian forces on terrorist sites in Pakistan. These strikes were in retaliation for a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
The ministry's statement emphasized that the directive serves the interest of national security, urging all streaming media platforms operating in India to remove Pakistan-origin content immediately, regardless of the content being subscription-based or otherwise.
