A man posing as a Google employee has been charged by Mumbai police after allegedly defrauding a woman of Rs 27.4 lakh, authorities reported. The suspect, Nikhil Deepak Dalvi, met the victim through a matrimonial site and tricked her into believing he was a high-earning professional before soliciting money.

Dalvi, who claimed to work in Ghatkopar with an annual salary package of Rs 1 crore, sought financial help from the woman for alleged urgent expenses due to road widening by his village. He presented fake credentials, including a bank account balance and a Google ID, to persuade her.

The woman became suspicious following a call from another victim and subsequently filed a police complaint. An FIR accused Dalvi of cheating and breach of trust, revealing his pattern of deceiving multiple women. Currently held in custody for similar cases, the Navi Mumbai police have arrested him.
