The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has launched enforcement actions targeting unauthorized walkie-talkie devices sold on e-commerce platforms, as tensions between India and Pakistan persist.

Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralahad Joshi announced the initiative on social media, highlighting that such sales violate statutory obligations and could endanger national security operations.

The CCPA's crackdown addresses issues such as incomplete operating frequency data, missing licensing details, and lack of Equipment Type Approval (ETA) certification, which contravene the Consumer Protection Act, Indian Telegraph Act, and Wireless Telegraphy Act.

Minister Joshi stated that formal guidelines under Section 18(2)(l) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, will be issued to enhance compliance and consumer safeguards in digital markets. Sellers must comply with all regulatory standards to protect consumer rights and prevent illegal trade.
