The announcement arrives amid heightened tensions with Pakistan, highlighted by ongoing conflicts along border areas.
Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi took to social media to refute unsubstantiated claims circulating about presumed food shortages in the country. According to him, the country possesses more than adequate stockpiles of essential commodities, urging citizens to disregard alarmist narratives.
Joshi emphasized that legal action under the Essential Commodities Act would be taken against traders and businesses found engaging in stockpiling practices. Meanwhile, the country has set an ambitious target for foodgrain production this year, highlighting resilience within the agricultural sector.
