The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is gearing up for crucial elections on May 22 to fill two Standing Committee vacancies. These openings arose following the resignation of two councillors elected as MLAs.
The contested seats belong to the South Zone and City-SP Zone. In addition, various ward committees will elect new chairpersons and deputy chairpersons as stipulated under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957.
The process will follow secret ballot protocols and adhere to the Delhi Municipal Corporation (Procedure & Conduct of Business) Regulations, 1958. Elections for the overarching Standing Committee are also anticipated in early June, amid postponed operations due to political conflicts.
