The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formally charge-sheeted an individual accused of harboring proclaimed offenders linked to the 2018 Ramalingam murder case. This follows the brutal hacking of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) worker Ramalingam on February 5, 2019, in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.
The victim was reportedly killed by members of the Popular Front of India (PFI), now a banned organization, after he opposed their alleged religious conversion practices. Mohammed Ali Jinnah, from Dindigul district, has been charge-sheeted under various laws for sheltering the assailants.
The NIA took charge of the case in March 2019, initially charge-sheeting 18 individuals, six of whom were on the run. Continuous efforts are underway to locate the remaining absconders with rewards offered for information leading to arrests.
