Andhra Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan, has announced a significant property tax exemption for homes owned by Indian Defence personnel within the state's gram panchayat limits. This initiative marks a gesture of honor and gratitude towards the armed forces.
The announcement, made on X late Sunday night, expands the exemption to cover all active Defence personnel, regardless of their deployment location within the country. Previously, this tax relief was restricted to retired soldiers or those stationed at the nation's borders.
Kalyan emphasized the decision as a tribute to the courage of forces including the Army, Navy, Air Force, CRPF, and paramilitaries. The measure applies to properties where the personnel or their spouse resides or owns jointly, following recommendations from the Director of Sainik Welfare, reflecting the state's deep respect for the nation's defenders.
