In a joint operation involving Qatari search teams and the FBI, the remains of 30 individuals have been uncovered in a remote Syrian town. The discovery provides insight into the atrocities committed by the militant Islamic State group, whose victims include foreign journalists and aid workers.

Qatari internal security forces revealed that the search was requested by the FBI, with DNA tests currently being conducted to establish the identities of those found. The effort underscores ongoing attempts to uncover past crimes of ISIS, which held significant territories in Syria and Iraq before its defeat in 2019.

The search occurred in Dabiq, near Syria’s border with Turkiye, highlighting Syria's ongoing struggle with its past. As grave sites continue to be found, the distressing impact of both ISIS militants and the oppressive regime of Bashar Assad, who intensified crackdowns on dissidents, remains evident.
