In a gesture of immense gratitude and respect, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan announced a property tax exemption for homes owned by Indian Defence personnel residing within the gram panchayat limits.

This new policy, shared by Kalyan via a post on X, significantly broadens the scope of the existing exemption. Previously, the relief applied only to retired defence personnel or those stationed at border areas. Now, it encompasses all active service members, irrespective of their deployment location.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who oversees Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, also mentioned that the policy applies to properties that the personnel or their spouses reside in or jointly own. The decision followed the Director of Sainik Welfare's recommendation, underscoring Andhra's deep appreciation for the country's armed forces.
