A Bengaluru-based couple recently suffered a shocking theft involving their jewellery and cash during a flight transit at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Their check-in baggage, which held Rs 30 lakh worth of jewellery and Rs 30,000 in cash, was found ransacked upon their arrival in Bengaluru.
Bhagirath Singh Rajpurohit, a banker, revealed that the valuables went missing from a locked suitcase en route from Delhi after attending a family wedding in Rajasthan. The jewellery was reportedly in a steel box inside a luggage bag equipped with a number and physical lock, both untouched, but a cut mark was discovered inside a fold of the bag.
Delhi police have registered an FIR and are scrutinizing CCTV footage to trace the perpetrators. Multiple ornaments, a bank passbook, and an Aadhaar card were among the stolen items. Authorities have been urged to expedite their efforts to recover the valuables.
