Two members of an inter-state narcotics gang were apprehended in Gorakhpur with 6.5 kg of opium, valued at roughly Rs 32.5 lakh, according to officials on Wednesday.

The arrests were carried out by the Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force on Tuesday, targeting Pawan Singh from Bareilly and Khushbu from Bihar, an official statement revealed.

During questioning, Singh disclosed his involvement in a gang that trafficked opium from Bihar and Jharkhand to other regions. The gang's kingpin, identified as Netrapal, orchestrated the operations. Khushbu was reportedly delivering a drug consignment from Bihar to Singh and had engaged in similar activities multiple times. Both suspects have been charged under the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act.
