Cattle Smuggler Nabbed After Dramatic Shootout in Meerut

In a dramatic encounter, police apprehended a cattle smuggler in Meerut district after a brief exchange of gunfire, according to officials on Monday. The suspect, who sustained injuries during the encounter, was found with an illegal pistol, ammunition, and tools used in animal slaughter.
SP (Rural) Rakesh Kumar Mishra disclosed that the investigation began on June 14, when dead cow remains were found in Pachgaon Patti Sanwal village, leading a local resident, Mohanpal, to file a case against unknown individuals.
On confronting some suspicious individuals in Ladpura village on Sunday night, the police were fired upon. Subsequently, the accused, Yamin alias Toocha, confessed to involvement in the illegal slaughter of cows, linking him to multiple cases of animal cruelty and theft in Meerut.
