In response to allegations of delay and negligence, West Bengal's Fire Minister Sujit Bose defended his department's actions during a recent market fire in Kolkata's Khidirpur. Addressing the assembly on Tuesday, Bose dismissed claims of inadequate resources.
The opposition criticized the fire service for arriving late and lacking water, but Bose clarified the situation. He stated that three fire tenders were dispatched immediately, with additional support following. Technical issues, not a lack of resources, were to blame for initial problems.
Bose lauded the bravery of firefighters, comparing their risk to that of armed forces personnel. He urged the assembly to recognize their sacrifices and courage, as the cause of the pump malfunction is investigated.
