The Delhi High Court has granted bail to an AIIMS junior resident doctor accused of raping a woman on the pretext of marriage. Justice Shalinder Kaur noted indications of a consensual relationship, raising questions about the nature of the allegations brought against him.
The accuser has lodged several FIRs concerning similar offenses against others and faces accusations of extortion herself, adding layers to the ongoing legal proceedings. Court records show she continued cohabiting with the doctor after the alleged incident of abuse.
The court stressed the doctor's clean record and cooperation with the investigation. It noted that discrepancies in the medico-legal case and WhatsApp evidence suggested mutual affection between the pair. The trial is expected to be lengthy, and the doctor must furnish a Rs 50,000 bond for bail.
