The Mathura police announced the arrest of the principal suspect and an accomplice linked to the devastating collapse of six houses on June 15 in the Maya Teela area. The collapse led to the tragic deaths of two young girls and a young man, following unauthorized soil excavation.
The main accused, Sunil Gupta, and contractor Pappu were apprehended after a detailed investigation that utilized surveillance and CCTV footage. Authorities have since charged Gupta with culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
In response to the tragedy, the district administration took swift action, relocating five displaced families to government housing. This measure, coupled with ongoing investigations, seeks to provide justice and relief to the affected community.
