The Delhi High Court has ordered a temporary halt on demolitions by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in the Batla House area, citing a need for stakeholders' responses. The Delhi High Court has temporarily stopped demolitions in the Batla House area, masterminded by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). This suspension follows a recent order by Justice Tejas Karia on June 16, requesting that all stakeholders provide their responses within four weeks.

The issue returns to court on July 10, with the status quo maintained in the meantime. The hearing involves multiple pleas against the proposed demolition, including one from a petitioner arguing that her property, located in Khasra Number 279, falls under the PM-UDAY Scheme and should not be torn down.

Previously, the Supreme Court had ordered the demolition of unauthorized structures on this land. However, a recent PIL by AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan did not succeed in securing general protection against the demolitions, as such an order could impact individual cases.
