The Indian government unveiled the Gender Budgeting Knowledge Hub on Thursday, marking a significant step toward inclusive and gender-responsive fiscal planning. This digital platform aims to equip policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders with essential resources such as policy briefs and gender-disaggregated data.
Union Women and Child Development Minister Annpurna Devi emphasized the initiative's alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Viksit Bharat @2047', highlighting its role in achieving equitable growth. She noted the Knowledge Hub's potential to embed gender equality in all fiscal decisions, ensuring women and girls are prioritized.
The Knowledge Hub launch brought together representatives from Central ministries, international bodies like UN Women, and national institutions. Devi stressed the importance of collaboration across ministries and states to make the gender budget impactful, calling for a commitment to data accountability and action.
