Himachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar clarified on Thursday that he will not resign amid the controversy sparked by his son Neeraj Bharti's remarks on social media about transfers in his constituency.
Kumar dismissed the idea of resignation as the issues had been resolved and criticized the practice of using transfers as an occupation, suggesting it damages both the government's image and that of the elected representatives.
Neeraj Bharti had speculated about his father's resignation over alleged influence of middlemen in the government's transfer processes but later retracted the post, stating an assurance had been given and talks with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu were forthcoming.
