Zhenhao Zou, a 28-year-old Chinese Ph.D. student, received a minimum 24-year prison sentence after being convicted of drugging and raping 10 women, both in England and China. The sentencing occurred Thursday at Inner London Crown Court, following a four-week trial that exposed Zou's deliberate crimes.
Judge Rosina Cottage denounced Zou as a "sexual predator" who disguised his intentions with a "charming mask." The investigation began when a woman accused him of rape during his studies at University College London in 2023, leading to police discovering videos of his unconscionable acts and evidence of sedatives in his apartment.
The case has prompted 24 additional women to report similar experiences, marking Zou as one of the UK's most notorious sex offenders. Prosecutor Saira Pike applauded the bravery of the victims in coming forward, underscoring their crucial role in Zou's conviction and life sentence.
