Iran has officially requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, accusing the United States of illegal aggression. The call for action was made by Iran's UN ambassador over alleged American attacks on Iranian soil.
In a letter accessed by the Associated Press, Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani emphasized the need for the Security Council to hold the United States accountable according to international law and the UN charter.
The appeal comes in the wake of aggressive acts that Iran claims were unprovoked and orchestrated, following a prior Israeli military assault on Iran's nuclear facilities on June 13.
