A Delhi court has granted bail to Pramod Kumar Shahni, arrested for missing a hearing in a counterfeit currency case. Shahni had been unable to attend court due to COVID-19 restrictions in his village.

Initially arrested in November 2017 and released on bail in February 2018, Shahni returned to his rural village, where pandemic restrictions hampered his travel back to court.

Declared a proclaimed offender in May last year, Shahni has been in judicial custody since September 19, 2024. Judge Kiran Gupta considered the allegations' nature and Shahni's recent custody duration before granting bail on June 21.
