In a bid to further digitalize parliamentary processes, the Lok Sabha is set to introduce a new method for marking attendance using tablets placed at designated seats, Speaker Om Birla announced on Monday.

This innovative facility will allow members to register attendance directly on the tablets, enabling them to access parliamentary documents and the daily business schedule electronically.

Previously, MPs recorded their attendance in physical registers located in the lobbies. The shift to digital attendance, complemented by the option of an electronic pen introduced last year, is part of broader efforts to transition towards a paperless Parliament.
