A significant breakthrough occurred in Jharkhand's Gumla district as police arrested Firoz Ansari, a prominent Maoist leader with a Rs 5 lakh reward on his head. Identified as a sub-zonal commander for the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), Ansari was apprehended following meticulous planning by law enforcement.

Gumla Superintendent of Police, Haris Bin Zaman, confirmed the recovery of a rifle, 350 live cartridges, three smartphones, and a bag during the arrest. The operation was launched after intelligence reported JJMP chief Ravindra Yadav's movements in the forests of Ghaghra village.

Attempts by JJMP members to flee were thwarted when Ansari was captured. With connections to 11 criminal cases across Gumla, Latehar, and Lohardaga, the arrest marks a significant step in tackling Maoist insurgencies in the region.
