Delhi Court Concludes JNU Student Najeeb Ahmed's Case

A Delhi court has given its nod to the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) closure report regarding the missing case of Najeeb Ahmed, a first-year student from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Ahmed vanished on October 15, 2016, after an altercation with fellow students possibly linked to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Jyoti Maheshwari accepted the CBI's closure decision but allowed for the possibility of reopening the case should new evidence surface. The CBI concluded their investigation in October 2018 but struggled to produce results, prompting the judicial closure.

Initially investigated by Delhi Police, the case was transferred to the CBI amid allegations from Ahmed's family of political interference. The family alleged that the CBI faced external pressures that influenced the investigation's outcome.
