The Chhattisgarh government announced a three-month extension for Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, who was slated to retire on Monday. This extension was confirmed by Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao following a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
Jain, who joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1989, became Chhattisgarh's 12th chief secretary on November 30, 2020. With a background in Mechanical Engineering and an MTech from IIT Delhi, Jain's administrative career spans decades of service including roles as collector and additional chief secretary in various departments.
A native of Chhattisgarh, born on June 21, 1965, in Durg district, Jain has been instrumental in the state's governance since its formation in 2000. His extended tenure promises continued leadership in key state functions.
