In a significant administrative move, the Rajasthan government has appointed Rajeev Kumar Sharma, a seasoned Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, as the new Director General of Police (DGP). Sharma replaces Utkal Ranjan Sahoo, who recently stepped down from the role upon retirement.
Following Sahoo's retirement, Ravi Prakash Mehrada, the existing DGP of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), temporarily took charge. Sharma, known for his expertise in law enforcement and administration, is currently serving as the director general of the Bureau of Police Research and Development in New Delhi.
Hailing from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, Sharma previously led Rajasthan's Anti-Corruption Bureau. His distinguished career earned him the President's Police Medal in 2014, reflecting his dedication and excellence in service.
