Life Sentence for Man Convicted in Disturbing Case in West Bengal

In a significant verdict, the POCSO court in West Bengal's Nadia district has sentenced Prabhat Parui to life imprisonment for the rape of a four-year-old girl. The heinous crime, which occurred in June 2024, shocked the local community.

Parui, who was a neighbor of the victim, used chocolates to lure the child into a garden in Nagarukhra, where the crime took place. The parents, alerted by a concerned local who noticed their daughter's distress, filed a complaint that prompted police action.

Following a thorough investigation, Parui was arrested and charged with rape. The court's decision also included a financial penalty of Rs 25,000, marking a stern warning against such offenses. Justice has been served, offering some solace to the victim's family.
