In a harrowing bid to begin anew, a young couple from Pakistan tragically succumbed to the desert's harsh conditions while trying to enter India. Found in the Tanot area of Jaisalmer, the couple died of dehydration after an arduous journey on foot through the Thar desert.
The couple, aged 17 and 15, were discovered on June 28. The boy's body lay beneath a tree, alongside personal belongings, while the girl's body was found nearby, both too decomposed for facial recognition. Pakistani identification cards were recovered at the scene, underscoring the tragedy of their ill-fated attempt.
Local activist Dilip Singh Sodha revealed the young couple's determination to live in India, as they faced visa hurdles. Their attempt ended in Jaisalmer, with postmortem results confirming dehydration as the cause of death. Authorities continue to investigate this tragic incident.
