A Danish man, suspected of collecting intelligence on Jewish locations and individuals in Berlin for the Iranian intelligence apparatus, has been apprehended in Denmark, according to German prosecutors.
Identified only as Ali S, the suspect was detained in the city of Aarhus last Thursday. Prosecutors allege that earlier this year, he was tasked by an Iranian intelligence agency to surveil Jewish properties and people in Berlin.
Ali S allegedly spied on three sites in June, with the potential intent of further intelligence activities, including possible terrorist attacks on Jewish targets in Germany. The arrest was prompted by information from Germany's domestic intelligence agency. Extradition proceedings to Germany are underway, where a judge will decide on continued detention pending formal charges.
