Two minor brothers aged 13 and 11 drowned while bathing in a pond in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday evening, officials said.
The incident took place at Satanpur village in the Bajranggarh police station area, 20km from Guna district headquarters, they said.
Bajranggarh police station in-charge Kripal Singh Parihar said two minor brothers drowned in deep waters of a pond while bathing.
''Their bodies have been sent to the district hospital for post-mortem,'' he said.
Village sarpanch Jitendra Tomar said the deceased were identified as Vikram (13) and Laddu (11), sons of Bhanu Rajput, a resident of Satanpur.
The incident took place at around 4 pm when the siblings were bathing in the pond along with two other children, who came out of the water body safely, he said. Water levels in rivers and ponds in the district have gone up due to heavy rains since Tuesday night.
