In a major breakthrough against international cyber crime, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) arrested six individuals from Bihar's Supaul and Vaishali districts. Among them are Harshit Kumar, the alleged mastermind of the Indian operations, and Mohammad Sultan, alongside four others.
The arrests come as part of an investigation into a cyber crime syndicate operating across several Indian states, including West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Goa, and maintaining connections with international operatives from regions like the UAE and Europe.
Police seized eight SIM box devices, SIM cards, and financial documents during the raid, used to commit large-scale cyber fraud. An ongoing investigation aims to uncover the financial damage and extent of the syndicate's reach, hinting at a significant international network.
