The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has pledged to maintain its stance in the MUDA case, even after the Supreme Court dismissed the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) appeal against the Karnataka High Court's decision. The BJP alleges irregular allotment of valuable land sites to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's family, prompting their return.
Leader of Opposition R Ashoka emphasized that the BJP's efforts had compelled Siddaramaiah's family to return 14 plots worth crores. "If there was no issue with the allotment, why did they return them?" Ashoka questioned. He stressed that their campaign in the MUDA case would persist.
The Supreme Court's ruling challenges the ED's role in politically sensitive cases, warning against its use in political confrontations. Chief Justice B R Gavai remarked, "Let political battles be fought before the electorate. Why are you being used?" Siddaramaiah welcomed the court's decision, criticizing the central government's alleged "vendetta politics." The MUDA case involves alleged improper land allocation to Siddaramaiah's wife, B M Parvati, where compensatory sites were granted in an upscale Mysuru area.
