Escalating Tensions: Russian Strikes Intensify in Ukraine's Sumy Region
Recent Russian attacks in Ukraine's Sumy region have injured 14 people, with drone strikes damaging infrastructure and guided bombs hitting residential buildings. The region, once a strategic launch point for Ukrainian forces, sees continued aggression as Russia attempts to establish a buffer zone.

Russian strikes on Monday injured 14 people in Ukraine's border Sumy region, where Russian troops have established a foothold in recent months. According to the military administration of Sumy, drone strikes in Putyvl injured 11 civilians and inflicted damage on local infrastructure.
In the city of Sumy, Mayor Artem Kobzar reported that a guided bomb attack injured three individuals, targeting a multi-storey apartment, shattering windows and damaging balconies. The Sumy region has previously been pivotal for Ukrainian forces for incursions into Russia's Kursk region. Nevertheless, Russia asserts that Ukrainian forces have been expelled, with President Putin indicating plans for a buffer zone.
Sumy region experiences increased attacks as illustrated by an April missile strike in Sumy, which resulted in 35 fatalities. Tensions continue to escalate in the area.
