NGT Extends Deadline for Gujarat's Waste Management Report
The National Green Tribunal has granted Gujarat's chief secretary an additional four weeks to submit a biannual progress report on waste management compliance. This extension comes after the tribunal noted the state's delay in filing the report following the Supreme Court's directive to monitor waste management across the country.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has extended the deadline for the Gujarat chief secretary to submit the state's solid and liquid waste management compliance report. This decision was made by NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava in Delhi on Monday.
The tribunal noted that Gujarat had missed the submission deadline after October 2024. Responding to a request made on behalf of the chief secretary, the NGT granted a four-week extension for filing the six-monthly progress report.
The Supreme Court had directed the NGT to oversee the implementation of waste management norms throughout India, prompting this review of Gujarat's compliance efforts. The green court plans to revisit the case on September 1 to assess the state's progress.
