In a startling development in Beed district, a former aide of Walmik Karad, the prime accused in the murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, has claimed Karad's gang is responsible for the killing of Mahadev Munde. This latest accusation escalates tensions in an already high-profile case.
Mahadev Munde, a resident of Parli, was found dead three days after being abducted on October 19, 2023. His wife controversially consumed poison as a form of protest over the investigation delays. According to the post-mortem report accessed by Vijaysinh alias Bala Bangar, Munde's body bore between 15 to 16 deep wounds, indicating a brutal assault.
The local crime branch is now deeply involved, with allegations that Karad's son, Shree Karad, was among those who attacked Munde. The case is further compounded by the earlier murder of Santosh Deshmukh, linked to an extortion attempt on an energy company. Several arrests have been made under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
