Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation MP Sudama Prasad has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to designate the floods in Bihar as a national disaster. Citing severe conditions in a letter, he emphasized the urgent need for funds from the Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
The Ganga river's rising waters have reached dangerous levels, endangering numerous villages, with Jawainiya village in Shahpur block facing the risk of being engulfed due to erosion. Last year, the floods submerged 64 homes, and this year's damages continue to escalate, threatening temples and homes alike.
Prasad has insisted on swift relief measures under the Disaster Management Act of 2005. He demands Rs 25 lakh for families experiencing loss, alongside a comprehensive rehabilitation strategy. This involves the setup of community kitchens, shelters, healthcare, and infrastructure for those affected by the floods.
